Gainsbarre pour les intimes
Hommage à Serge Gainsbourg

Sunday October 20, 2024 at 19:00

Théâtre du Tsar

Show

Performance is in French.

The show GAINSBARRE POUR LES INTIMES delicately pays tribute to the greatest songs of Serge Gainsbourg. These include the ones he performed himself, as well as the sublime songs he wrote for French icons such as Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot, Isabelle Adjani, and Vanessa Paradis, among others.

Gainsbourg is, of course, known for La Javanaise, Je suis venu te dire que je m'en vais, Comme un boomerang, and Je t'aime moi non plus. But he also wrote Poupée de cire, poupée de son, Tandem, Pull Marine, and Fuir le bonheur de peur qu'il ne se sauve.

Starring a radio chart regular since his return to music in 2020, Justin Guitard, accompanied by two of the most beautiful voices in Acadia, Noémie Robichaud and Marielle Fontaine, and with arrangements and musical direction by the young virtuoso musician Samuel Deveau, aged 19.

Come and discover new voices, a new generation of artists who tastefully reinterpret the masterful songs of Gainsbourg.

A poetic, spontaneous, and authentic show... just like Serge.

For lovers of Gainsbourg and beauty: beautiful lyrics and beautiful melodies (Nelson).

La voix humaine
Opéra

Tuesday November 12, 2024 at 19:30

Jeunesses Musicales Canada

In this double bill in which the comedy of animals gives way to human tragedy, Poulenc's La voix humaine takes on an almost veristic meaning, as a broken relationship is woven through the mundane language of a telephone conversation. In this distressful monologue, a woman attempts to speak to her lover over the phone, slowly laying bare her sadness and pain at being abandoned. In the first half, a singer performs a selection of French mélodies centered on animals, its levity juxtaposed against the lyrical tragedy of the second half. In this way, Ravel's cycle of Histoires naturelles and other songs are brought into harmony with Poulenc's La voix humaine in a rich, daring, and contrasting vocal concert.
